Apricot Oil or Apricot Kernel Oil is pressed from the kernels of the Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot). Apricot Kernels have an oil content of 40-50%. The oil is similar to almond oil and peach oil, both of which are also extracted from the kernels of the respective fruit. Apricot oil is used in cosmetics to soften skin.

The apricot tree belongs to the rose family, originating from East and Central Asia. This fruit contains high amounts of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, dietary fiber and potassium. Apricot kernels contain an oil content of 40% to 50%.

The oil that is derived from the dried seeds of this fruit is known as Apricot kernel oil and it is quite similar to almond oil or peach oil. This oil is mainly composed of linoleic acid and oleic acid, both of which are unsaturated fats. There are several different health benefits that have been associated with the use of Apricot kernel oil. This oil is generally used in the manufacture of cosmetics, as it helps soften the skin. Several commercial hair products also contain apricot kernel oil, as it improves the condition of the hair.
